A retake on Jonathon Roberts’ song I Am a Fool by Spark & Echo in response to the theme of Fools and 2 Corinthians 11.
Composed for saxophone quartet and voice by Jonathon Roberts, setting a part of Apostle Paul’s regret-filled message to the Corinthians. In his second letter, Paul spoke to the people he served in many different ways. We see in this passage a tender and sad side of Paul as he alerts the Corinthians of his change of plans.
After over eighty performances across the country the multimedia theater piece, Project Paul, makes its NYC debut at the United Solo Theater Festival on October 26th, at 9pm. Video art, sound design, music, lights, movement and poetry come together in this high-energy theatrical reaction to the life and writings of the Apostle Paul.
“I Make Tents” is poetic prose with a rhythmic soundscape exploring Apostle Paul’s life as a tentmaker and his writings on wisdom and foolishness. Sound samples from professors and politicians intertwine with lighter sounds and Paul’s playful and even biting words. This piece deals with some of Paul’s favorite themes: wisdom vs. foolishness, weakness and humility, and the painful “groaning” of this world.
