On June 20, 2011, the short film “The Genesis Project” created by composer Doug Detrick and motion Designer Kyra Odi was premiered at M1-5 Lounge in TriBeCa, New York City. The artists were commissioned to make a new work by Spark and Echo Arts and chose to react to Genesis 1:27-28. The work is a multi-discplinary collage of video and sound focusing on the terms “image” and “subdue.”

The premiere was complemented by an opening set from Detrick’s Cartography Trio, which includes Sara Schoenbeck on bassoon and Karen Waltuch on viola. The trio entertained the crowd with tastefully arranged Appalachian folk and Shaker tunes and even added a little singing as well. With a great turnout and lovely venue, the producers of the event would like to thank the talented artists and musicians who made this evening a success.
