On May 16th, 2011, we debuted Spark & Echo The Band at Klimat Lounge in New York’s East Village. Over twenty people came to listen to new music by Jonathon Roberts and Emily Clare Zempel while participating in a group artistic response led by artist Charis Carmichael Braun. Special guest percussionist Anthony Taddeo sat in on a few tunes as well.

This concert was also a welcome back event for Boris, the prodigal bassoon, who went missing on the Lower East side for a whole month. Boris was joined by Christopher Robin the Baritone Ukelele and one unnamed clarinet to round out Emily Clare Zempel’s musical arsenal.

During the concert the audience was given forty handmade puzzle pieces of the head, heart and body and asked to color in response to the music–epic struggles, ancient love stories and timeless Biblical proverbs. Watch the video to see what they collectively created…
